This is not breaking news. Many of you will have seen the picture and even the video which is readily available on rawstory.com  The photo showing Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama neglecting to place his hand over his heart during the national anthem at Senator Tom Harkin's Steak Fry event on September 16 in Indianola, Iowa.
The implication is of cource that failing to display the proper hand-over-heart etiquette constitutes evidence that Barack Obama is unpatriotic and therefore unfit to hold the office
...of president. A spokesperson for Mr. Obama replied on Inside Edition, "Sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't [put his hand on his heart]. In no way was he making any sort of statement, and any suggestion to the contrary is ridiculous." Never the less I am starting to receive some interesting e-mails from some of my friends "Conservative Christians" have launched an e-mail campaign questioning Mr. Obama's patriotism. Here is one example:

ABSOLUTELY NO. How do you feel??? These butchers have already told the citizens of the world that they are spreading ISLAM all over the world, by force if needed. Every citizen in the US needs to read this. The word MUST get out on this @%&*A^)%@#, could not think of anything worst than what my current vocabulary is, so you just fill in what you wish.

save us!!! | Well I am not pushing my political views on anyone either but isn't it interesting how some people seem to not care about the facts?  Fact one:
As stated by Obamas spoke person this was not a conscious statement of protest unlike when he spoke about why he no longer is wearing the American flag lapel pin . " ...particularly because as we're talking about the Iraq war, that became a substitute for I think true patriotism, which is speaking out on issues that are of importance to our national security." Fact two: Mr. Obamas father was born Muslim but as an adult became an atheist; his mother grew up in a Baptists and Methodists home. Obama affirmed his Christian faith in the Trinity United Church of Christ on 95th Street in the South-side of Chicago. Now if not placing your hand over your heart says you are not committed to the United States of America I wounder what this picture of our President Gorge W. Bush says? "I am hungry"? or maybe "that was some good tasting constitution I had for lunch, he he he." Ridiculous don't you think? |
