While our brave service man and woman are kept in Iraq to secure Oil interest and prevent a full out civil war (ahmmmm I meant to say "bring Democracy to the Iraqis") Our Senate spends it's time condemning the anti war movement. Today a in an amendment (SA 2909 ) to SEC. 1031. with the fancy title of "MINIMUM PERIODS BETWEEN DEPLOYMENT FOR UNITS AND MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES DEPLOYED FOR OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM AND OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM the Senate wrote this: (8) A recent attack through a full-page advertisement in the New York Times by the liberal activist group, Moveon.org, impugns the honor and integrity of General Petraeus and all the members of the United States Armed Forces.
On September 14, 2008 Arizona Senator John McCain has taken criticism of anti-war group MoveOn.org to a whole new level: He is suggesting that the organization “ought to be thrown out of this country .”
A proposal which Democrats put forward as their best chance of changing the course of the Iraq war died on the Senate floor on Wednesday September 19, as Republicans stood firmly with President Bush. Now I am not always a friend of MoveOn, but I believe that we now reach new heights when it come to restricting our freedoms, like the right to dissent.
