Well, those Canooks did it - the Canadian loonie just beat the US dollar. (First time since 1977.) I found this image on /b/, and since linking there directly will not work - I'm posting it here:
Whenever you compare the merits of Canada's political or economic structure with the United States to a conservative, they almost inevitably accuse our neighbor to the North of being a socialist, 2nd-rate country. While I don't believe either statement is true - as of today, Canadian nay-sayers will have to think of some other reason to discount Canada's liberal policies. Not only has their loonie bested our dollar, but Canada's economy is strong, they have lower unemployment, full heathcare, and no foreign wars. At this rate, the United States is increasingly looking like a second-rate power when compared to Canada. Perhaps Canada-haters can come up with a few new Celine Dion jokes?
