I received an e-mail this morning from Rabbi Michael Lerner. For those who have not seen this I like to posted it here for it raises some important questions.
Should selling and buying sex be legal? Do prostitutes save marriages? Is America the "land of the free"? But most importantly, why are we not outraged enough to stop the endless lying and violation of civil liberties by our own government? <

From Beyond Chron
Nader to Pick Gonzalez as Running Mate By Paul Hogarth‚ Feb. 28‚ 2008 At 9:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time today, presidential candidate Ralph Nader will announce his running mate at a Washington DC press conference. BeyondChron has learned that it will be former San Francisco Supervisor and Board President Matt Gonzalez. We were unaware of Gonzalez's plans when he wrote a guest editorial for us yesterday, and so did not disclose it at the time.
Gonzalez ran for Mayor in 2003, coming very close to becoming the first Green Party mayor of a major U.S. city. On February 5th, Nader won the California primary for the 2008 Green Party nomination with 60% of the vote. This is Nader's fourth consecutive run for the Presidency. His running mate in 1996 and 2000 was Native American activist Winona LaDuke. His running mate in 2004 was Peter Camejo.
Ralph's VP running mate is coming to town tonight. Tomorrow at noon, Ralph and his running mate will appear together at a press conference in downtown Washington. And tomorrow evening, they will speak at George Washington University. Now, just a word of thanks. Late Monday, we put out a call for donations to the campaign in honor of Ralph's birthday. We said that over the course of two days, we wanted to raise $50,000 from 500 of you. And you came

Ralph Nader vs. the Fundamentalist Liberals By MICHAEL COLBY CounterPunch February 26, 2008 We live in scary times. And no one scares me more than the faux-liberals of today. They are a most intolerant mob that has become so dislodged from logic that they'd rather gaze reverently at the false packaging of hope than seriously contemplate the issues of the day.
They love bandwagons and hate activism. They strive for insular popularity while trampling the populace. And, in the true spirit of fundamentalism, they loathe dissent and flog the dissenter with the kind of glee tha

Once a while I have time to read the Modern Mechanix blog. Many of the articles posted, from old magazines, discussed devices or predictions that never came about. Mixed up with those are some that are prophetic. Maybe there are some lessons for us as well. This article, from an issue of Popular Mechanics published in 1953, discusses both greenhouse gasses and global warming! If only we had paid attention back then.

Barack Obama is not a Muslim.
We know this because he has told us so. We know it because there is no credible evidence to suggest otherwise. We know it despite a campaign of lies and whispers from various bloggers, pundits and head cases. Barack Obama is not a Muslim. But, what if he was? Same guy, same charisma, same inspirational idealism. But also, a Muslim. Not a crazy Muslim. Not a guy prone to strapping bombs to his chest in hopes of meeting virgins in heaven

It's time. Now. Before February 5th. If you wait, it'll be too late. You've won the popular vote, an Oscar and a Nobel Prize, and now it's time for you to give something back.
Although somewhere in your mind you may think that there's a chance for you to rise from the dust of a brokered convention to claim the nomination for yourself, you must also know that this would not be the best thing for the Democratic party or the country. Not because you wouldn't make a great president, you would, but because of the inter-party civil war that we would need to go through first. We've seen it for the

Ralph Nader has formed a presidential exploratory committee, and said in an interview Wednesday that he will launch another presidential bid if he's convinced he can raise enough money to appear on the vast majority of state ballots this fall. Nader, who ran as an independent candidate in each of the past three presidential elections, told ABCNews.com that he will run in 2008 if he is convinced over the next month that he would be able to raise $10 million over the course of the campaign attract enough lawyers willing to work free of charge to get his name on state ballots. Nader said he filed papers with

President Bush and Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki signed a deal on Monday arranging for permanent bases and “investment opportunities” for the Bush Administration in Iraq. In return, Nouri al-Maliki and his government will get protection from the United States military against any threats to Maliki’s power (at least until Bush decides to renege on the deal). The Bush Administration is calling this arrangement an enduring relationship with a democratic Iraq”.“

This is not breaking news. Many of you will have seen the picture and even the video which is readily available on rawstory.com The photo showing Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama neglecting to place his hand over his heart during the national anthem at Senator Tom Harkin's Steak Fry event on September 16 in Indianola, Iowa.
The implication is of cource that failing to display the proper hand-over-heart etiquette constitutes evidence that Barack Obama is unpatriotic and therefore unfit to hold the office
