M ay 1st International Workers' Day will see significant actions by union workers against the war in Iraq. The most significant action will be taken by the dockworkers in San Francisco. Their decision to stop work on May 1st to express their opposition to the war in Iraq is a profound action. In a year in which Republicans and Democrats continue to promote policies that will prolong the war, the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) is representing the opposition of a majority of people in the United States to the war.

The ILWU’s resolution calls for support from other segments of labor. "That it is time to take labor’s protest to a more powerful level of struggle by calling on unions and working people in the U. S. and internationally to mobilize for a 'No Peace No Work Holiday' May 1, 2008 for 8 hours to demand an immediate end to the war and occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan and the withdrawal of U. S. troops from the Middle East and that a clarion call from the ILWU be sent with an urgent appeal for unity of action to the AFL-CIO, the Change to Win Coalition and all of the international labor organizations to which we are affiliated to bring an end to this bloody war once and for all."

An Election Without Meaning

By Peter Phillips, roject Censored

Will November 2008 bring a meaningful change to America? Will getting rid of George W. Bush and Richard Cheney without impeachment or indictment really make a difference? Will a 600 billion dollar war/defense budget be cut in half and used for desperately needed domestic spending? Will the ninety-three billion dollars profits in the private health insurance companies—those parasitic intermediates between you and your doctor—be used instead for full health care coverage for all? Will Habeas Corpus and Posse Comitatus be restored to the people? Will torture stop and the US withdraw from Iraq immediately? Will all students in public universities be able to enroll for free? Will the US national security agencies stop mass spying on our personal communications? Will the neo-conservative agenda of total military domination of the world be reversed?

For the longest time Greens have been discussing Cynthia's situation and many have argued that in order for her to get the Green Party support she will need to make a choice.

Congress woman Cynthia McKinney In the past few month Cynthia has traveled throughout the US and held fundraisers put on by Greens to retire her last campaign debt which was accomplished a few weeks ago. But time and again Greens ask, why are we helping a Democrat? They are not doing anything for us. In fact it is the Democrats, lead by their progressive arm that is constantly trying to prevent the Greens to participate in the political process.
