While y'all were paying attention to resident Ahmadinejad speech, the war hawks have passed the Lieberman-Kyl Amendment.

Will someone please explain to me how the hell the Dems let this pass?

Lieberman-Kyl Amendment Seeks To Escalate Possibility Of Military Action Against Iran

Today, the Senate is expected to vote on an “extremely threatening” amendment to the Defense Authorization Bill introduced by Sens. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) and Jon Kyl (R-AZ). The “sense of the Senate” amendment could “lead to a tit-for-tat escalation resulting in military confrontation between the US and Iran.”

The legislation accuses Iran of fighting “a proxy war against the Iraqi state and coalition forces in Iraq” and threatens to “combat, contain and [stop]” Iran. The right wing has quickly latched onto the amendment, claiming it “unflinchingly…calls on America to win” against Iran.

There are Dems in the US Congress, really ? Where ? Haven't seen one oh like for at least 6 years.

There are Republicans in Congress and spineless-wannabe Republicans (like Shuler)-in the pockets of big business-sorry ass excuses- in there. But Dems? please point one out.

What I do not get is how long we the people actually will put up with this nonsense? What is it going to take to arouse the masses? Maybe when they tell us to eat cake?

The Pen send out an e-mail with the following good news:

It has taken a couple days for the actual disposition of the
Lieberman-Kyl amendment to leak out, but in FACT, the two most
offensive paragraphs (3 and 4), which we were _object_ing to so
strenuously as amounting to a declaration of war on Iran, were
REMOVED IN THEIR ENTIRELY prior to the vote.

So a little bit of good news after all
